Official functional-dependency and provenance overlap; bounded preparation review with no novelty clearance.

RP006 — Targeted method and prior-art review

Inspected: 2026-10-12. This is a bounded primary-source review for the planned finite field-ablation design. It is not a systematic survey or novelty clearance.

David Toman's official Waterloo CS338 handout, currently labelled Fall 2026, defines functional dependencies by agreement on determining attributes implying agreement on determined attributes (slide 9, PDF page 3). Candidate keys exclude proper superkey subsets (slide 14, PDF page 4). RP006's projection/truth-vector comparison is a finite-instance functional-determination analogue; its mask minimality is relative to a declared eight-element class. Schema-level guarantees over all allowed instances require stronger reasoning. Search indexing reported an older date; the inspected document itself supplies the cited edition. SRC-FD2026 records this mutable URL and inspection scope.

W3C PROV-DM section 5.2.1 permits derivation descriptions with optional activity/generation/usage information. Parent structure and additional operation detail have clear provenance precedent. RP006's toy consumption rules are its own finite contract, not asserted PROV semantics.

W3C PROV-O wasDerivedFrom/qualifiedDerivation distinguishes binary derivation from a qualified account. Removing operation fields overlaps this familiar representational distinction. The standard does not certify RP006's specific query family or minimal masks.

Our inference: equality classes, functional determination, parent DAGs and field deletion are established machinery. The useful contribution here is an explicit reproducible inquiry-relative certificate and honest limitation record within Autorite. No original mathematical theorem, privileged ontology, new provenance standard or general information-minimal representation is proposed.

No broad query-determinacy, database-view, provenance-compression, graph-encoding or information-theory survey was completed. No external scientific review occurred. Additional novelty or foundational claims require their own expanded collision review. Lack of an observed finite conflict cannot be promoted to a universal dependency or unseen-domain decoder.

The known RP004 fixtures and their outcomes are deliberately reused. They are designed examples, not fresh evidence. This review accepts the method basis for preparation; implementation, independent verification, feasibility preflight and the recorded pre-execution checkpoint remain pending.
