Explicit internal review of all seven frozen outcomes, assumptions and completed finite commitment. Broader questions remain open.

RP002A package interpretation and disposition review

Date: 2026-10-10. Post-outcome internal review of the completed fixed-budget study, not a new experiment or an external peer review. Package RP-002A; Test TST-RP002A002; Result R-RP002A002. Decision D-0004 records the disposition.

Review question and acceptance basis

Has the declared finite, passive prediction study delivered interpretable evidence for its three controls, with all outcomes, deviations and scope limits retained? Closure concerns this Cycle 01 package commitment. It does not resolve the full foundational questions Q-3 and Q-4, establish a novel memory theory, or close Cycle 01.

The frozen second protocol specifies the algorithms, three generators, 20 independent training replicates per world, seven comparisons, .01-nat engineering margins and conditional normal-theory analysis. The completed report and audited Result record document 60 units, 120 learned fits, all 484 output hashes and saved-checkpoint/analysis replay. The earlier incomplete attempt remains separate. This review uses that audited evidence without new fitting, additional sampling, pooling, margin changes or reclassification.

Frozen outcomes and interpretation

Alternative-minus-reference log loss, nats; lower is better. These are the already reported simultaneous twofold-inflated Student-t Bonferroni intervals, conditional on the declared assumptions.

Contrast Adjusted interval Frozen decision Package interpretation
E1:B1-B0 [-.039755200, -.038677094] benefit Window-eight history meets the .01-nat improvement criterion over current observation in this fixture.
E1:B2-B0 [-.040470568, -.039383309] benefit The trained recursive predictor meets the same criterion in this fixture.
E0:B1-B0 [.000003896, .000087786] equivalent Predictive loss is within the declared engineering tolerance when the current observation is sufficient.
E0:B2-B0 [-.000009435, .000051633] equivalent The same scoped tolerance decision holds for the recursive predictor.
E2:B1-B0 [.000072577, .000154261] equivalent Extra past observations produce no improvement beyond the declared tolerance in this future-irrelevant-history fixture.
E2:B2-B0 [-.000000454, .000056752] equivalent The same tolerance decision holds for the recursive predictor.
E1:B2-B1 [-.000853265, -.000568318] indeterminate The entire interval does not clear the predeclared -.01 benefit threshold. Do not replace this benefit test with post-outcome equivalence or infer recurrence necessity.

The primary history-versus-current pattern is consistent with the baseline prediction in these operational fixtures. Both history algorithms benefit in E1; the four E0/E2 loss comparisons meet their frozen equivalence criterion. The last comparison remains indeterminate under its own declared rule even though its interval is negative. This is a completed decision, not missing execution. Equal predictive losses within a tolerance would not establish equal representations or the absence of every historical effect.

The baseline decision matrix requires no special recurrent-state advantage claim when a finite window is sufficient. Our final benefit comparison supplies no demonstrated .01-nat recurrent advantage. The prior analytic review also records a very small ideal window-eight/full-history gap. Neither observation establishes that recurrence is unnecessary in every process.

Completion and integrity review

Required work Evidence and disposition
Information access and controls Preserved baseline preregistration, operational protocols, generator/filter/causality/reset checks and analytic design review. B3 conditions on observed history without realized hidden-state access. E0/E1/E2 are finite fixture controls.
Collision and contribution scope COLLISION_REVIEW.md retains established HMM/filter/predictive-state overlap. Treat this as a reproducible boundary study; no priority or novelty claim. Its limited citation coverage remains disclosed.
Pre-outcome design Calibration and SD-only variance selection, frozen second configuration/protocol and source-bound authorization remain unchanged. First-attempt partial outcomes were accessible; the technical retry reused no samples/checkpoints or inferential design changes.
Complete outcome family All 60 units, 120 fits and seven declared decisions are retained. No selective replicate exclusion or post-outcome test switch.
Artifact integrity The completed report, audited Result and execution review document lossless data, weights, traces and replay of hashes/predictions/analysis without training. No predeclared trace warnings in the second run; that is not proof of global optimality.
Deviations and resource limit First attempt INCOMPLETE with 36/60 units and 73 saved fit traces, no complete-family Result. The fresh technical retry was separately authorized. Second-run civil elapsed 12297.895 seconds includes lid sleep and stays below the 14400-second bound. Both attempts remain immutable.
Interpretation and negative outcomes This review preserves all seven outcomes and their assumptions, including the indeterminate recurrent comparison. It does not promote a broad Claim.

Assumptions and unresolved questions

Training units are treated as independent; episodes and timepoints are not extra training replicates. Actual-loss inference retains the frozen normal-theory assumptions. Synthetic calibration is not distribution-free or actual-loss coverage proof. The .01-nat margin is fixture-specific, not a universal substantive threshold. Capacity is approximately matched (579 versus 651 parameters), and the estimand is the fixed training algorithm, not an optimally trained model.

No generalization beyond the specified generator laws and parameters, no necessity of recurrent memory or retention of the entire history, no ontology or foundational theory, and no exhaustive novelty clearance follows. The broader Q-3 and Q-4 remain ACTIVE. External scientific review has not occurred; this is an explicit internal evidence and interpretation review.

Further architectures, generator regimes, smaller margins, robustness studies or full novelty claims would require a separately reviewed commitment and execution authorization. They are open research directions, not silently added prerequisites for this already defined finite package. No receiving Cycle or new package is fabricated, and no obligation is labelled transferred.

Package and Cycle disposition

Accept the defined Cycle 01 RP002A package as completed, with mixed scoped outcomes. Set RP-002A to CLOSED and resolve only the rp002a package-disposition obligation as completed, citing this review, the completed report, the Result and D-0004. Retain the 13 equal-weight obligations; the ring becomes 1/13 (approximately 7.7%). Cycle 01 remains ACTIVE and its other 12 obligations remain unresolved. No whole-Cycle synthesis, Foundation Review, graph review, checkpoint, transition or close bundle is claimed by this package review.

Next work is preparation of RP003's local/global preservation protocol, including its transitive control and non-transitive tolerance counterexamples. That is a next-work choice, not execution authorization or an RP003 result.

Reopen this package through a recorded Decision if an artifact defect, invalidation, material methodological error or contradiction changes the accepted interpretation. Preserve historical protocol/run bytes and the present review. Broader extensions receive a new scoped commitment rather than silently revising these outcomes.
