# Checkpoint A — Timing deviation

Recorded 2026-10-11 against reviewed source 239c02db76fc6115e877d210cca8d17d77f82e1f. Decision D-0008 acknowledges this deviation; it does not backdate approval or change the frozen baseline.

## Intended sequence and actual sequence

The frozen research program schedules Checkpoint A after RP002A/RP003. The implementation roadmap specifies methodology, graph, site-projection and negative/surprise review before full RP004/RP005A execution. No separate checkpoint review, decision or checkpoint tag was recorded at that point. RP004 and RP005A subsequently completed their individual reviewed/frozen audits and package dispositions under D-0006/D-0007. Checkpoint A is being completed now, after all four packages.

This is a missed process gate. Individual protocol, collision, implementation, provenance and outcome reviews do not substitute for the absent cross-package checkpoint. Today's record is a late review; it cannot establish that the required earlier gate was satisfied.

## Evidence assessment and consequence

The recorded RP004/RP005A source/input freezes preceded their outcomes. Both runs remain complete and independently replayable, and all input/output hashes, declared inventories and resource checks pass. Their negative, zero and UNKNOWN outcomes are preserved. The timing failure does not by itself show a numerical, coverage or protocol defect; this internal review therefore leaves the scoped Results VALID while keeping the governance deviation visible. This judgment is separate from structural validation and is open to external review.

No historical approval, source freeze, Test, Result, run, protocol or status is rewritten. No missing pre-execution checkpoint is manufactured. If a material methodological or evidence defect is later found, the relevant Result/package decisions and Cycle obligations must be reconsidered with original bytes preserved.

## Corrective action

Record the actual late Checkpoint A review, forward/backward graph review and current decision together before further Cycle-level synthesis work. Preserve this deviation in the eventual close bundle and transition review. Future required gates must have a dated, committed decision before dependent execution; publication readiness or a passing CI job is not that decision. No new research run is authorized here.
