# Cycle 01 — Checkpoint A

Date: 2026-10-11. Explicit internal checkpoint after the four finite package dispositions, against source 239c02db76fc6115e877d210cca8d17d77f82e1f. This is a late process review, not external peer review, a new experiment or whole-Cycle synthesis. D-0008 records the disposition.

## Timing deviation

The program schedules this checkpoint after RP002A/RP003; the roadmap places it before RP004/RP005A execution. That separate gate was missed. Both later packages already executed and were reviewed. The [timing deviation](https://autorite.net/sources/cycle01-checkpoint-timing/) records the intended/actual sequence, consequence and corrective action. Today's checkpoint does not backdate permission or erase the missed gate. Existing independently audited Results remain VALID under the stated evidence assessment; this remains open to later methodological challenge.

## Gate-by-gate assessment

| Required checkpoint item | Evidence and assessment |
| --- | --- |
| Methodology | RP002A separates passive generator fixtures, independent training units, fixed algorithms/margins and conditional intervals. RP003 uses exact finite path criteria; RP004 construction-derived lineage truth and conservative decoding; RP005A fixed graphs, reward horizons and target budgets. No synthetic count is reinterpreted as empirical prevalence. |
| Problem contracts | PC01 signatures, tolerance/path/lineage semantics are explicit in RP003/RP004. PC02 fixes predictive inquiries and the research graph's traceability query family. PC03 fixes source, targets, edges, admissibility, horizons and bounded viability in RP005A. Draft PC04–06 stay draft; no baseline definition changes. |
| Graph | The separate forward/backward review reconstructs 33 historical records, eighteen declared relations, forty-five typed references and four complete Result provenance traces. No transitive support, Claim promotion or foundational-question resolution is inferred. |
| Collision protocol | Every package has a bounded pre-outcome collision record and interpretation limits. Established machinery and inspection limits remain explicit; no exhaustive novelty clearance is claimed. No new novelty search or claim is introduced at checkpoint. |
| Negative and surprise handling | RP002A's first attempt remains INCOMPLETE without a Result; its technical retry is separate. The seven second-run decisions retain the indeterminate comparison. RP003 counterexamples, RP004 UNKNOWN/collision witnesses and RP005A zero/harmful comparisons remain included. No adverse outcome is filtered or recategorized to improve progress. |
| Provenance and deviations | Frozen baseline/input checks, output hashes, exact inventories and first-commit immutable run comparisons remain required. RP002A clock/sleep records and this late checkpoint remain separate process deviations. Integrity verification cannot certify scientific truth or substitute for review. |
| Site projections | Both English sites build from one validated graph/manifest. Package CLOSED differs from Result VALID and Question ACTIVE/OPEN; current completion comes from obligation weights. Historical reports remain marked snapshots. Deployment ledger preserves separate canonical and site-source provenance. |
| Scope and next gates | Four package commitments completed under D-0004–0007; six foundational Questions remain open/active. DAM X has no supplied-source pilot or accepted blocked disposition. Synthesis, Foundation Review, transition and the close bundle remain separate obligations. |

## Decision and continuation boundary

Accept the present checkpoint review as completed, explicitly late, under D-0008. Together with the independently documented graph review, resolve only `checkpoint-a` and `graph-review`, retaining all thirteen weights and previous package resolutions. Cycle 01 remains ACTIVE at 6/13 (46.2%). This is the checkpoint's process disposition, not evidence that the intended earlier checkpoint happened.

The original baseline, protocols, runs, Test/Result records and historical package reviews remain unchanged. No new research execution is authorized. Continue to Synthesis Review 1 and Foundation Review 1, including the limits and process deviations already recorded. DAM X's source dependency remains visible and unresolved; it must receive its own evidence-based disposition before Cycle closure. Cycle 2 is generated only through the later transition review.

The release anchor `cycle-01-checkpoint-a` will identify the merged, checked content commit containing this actual review. It is a dated checkpoint snapshot, not an earlier approval, scientific source freeze or Cycle close tag. Never retarget it to conceal later changes.

Revisit this disposition through a new Decision if a material traceability, evidence, projection or methodological defect changes the review. Preserve the historical snapshot and record corrections separately.
